Fuji Xerox Vietnam delivers nearly 100 bicycles to underprivileged children in Tra Vinh Tien Giang Tay Ninh Province and Can Gio District

Tra Vinh, November 5, 2016 - Today, in Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province, Fuji Xerox Vietnam Company Limited embarks on delivering nearly 100 bicycles to disadvantaged students in Tra Vinh province and other southern provinces including Tay Ninh, Tien Giang and Ho Chi Minh city. In collaboration with the NGO Saigon Children's Charity, the project is one of Fuji Xerox Vietnam’s continuing efforts to support children of difficult family background with access to a better education and prepare them for a brighter future.

Across Mekong Delta region (South Vietnam), there are still a lot of children who are struggling everyday in order to make their way to school. One of the challenges they face is travelling to school, for which some of the distance can go up to ten kilometers per day to commute on foot. The fact that these students do not have proper means of transportation which in returns causes health issues has increased the school drop-out rate in such areas.
Understanding the difficulties facing the students, Fuji Xerox Vietnam has extended our significant support to provide bicycles to nearly 100 of them who suffer from the travel distance to school and have difficult family circumstances.

"The bicycles are meaningful gifts that Fuji Xerox Vietnam brings to the children who have trouble traveling to school. The support of Fuji Xerox Vietnam contributes to the reduction of the dropout rate, and supports local to pay more attention to education. We hope that the gifts will be a great source of motivation for children to overcome difficulties, learn harder, and become good children of the family and good citizens of the society," said Mr. Ho Chi Cuong, District Education Officer of Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province.
"With the new bicycle, I will go to school faster and learn harder to become a teacher to teach little children,” shared by Tran The Luc, seven grade student of Tap Ngai secondary school, Tieu Can district, Tra Vinh province.

After handing over 60 bicycles in Tra Vinh province, Fuji Xerox Vietnam will continue to grant 33 bicycles for the disadvantaged children in Tay Ninh province, Tien Giang province and Ho Chi Minh City (Can Gio district).
Similar to last year, with the aim to engage different stakeholders in our CSR initiatives and to maximize the benefits that can offer to local community, Fuji Xerox Vietnam is proud to have received in-kind donation from our partners and customers for the children, including Acecook Viet Nam Joint Stock Company, Interfood Shareholding Company, KI-WORKS Vietnam Co. Ltd., KOKUYO Vietnam Co. Ltd., Lotte Vietnam Company Ltd., Xem Son Service & Trading Joint Stock Company and Yakult Vietnam Co. Ltd.
The hand-over ceremony also welcomes a number of media representatives joining and posting news about this good practice of supporting the community to the wide public. Fuji Xerox Vietnam really hopes that the news broadcasted will provide enough information for such a meaningful program to be multiplied within the enterprises community.
Providing bicycles to disadvantaged children is one many CSR initiatives that demonstrates Fuji Xerox Vietnam’s continuing efforts in providing educational assistance to underprivileged children. Over the years, we have implemented different activities towards this purpose including the renovation of Nhon Hoi “B” Pri mary School in An Giang province that benefited nearly 200 students and teachers in 2016. Moving forward, we will remain committed to contributing to the sustainable development of the local community where Fuji Xerox Vietnam is operating.
