Fuji Xerox hands over “B” Nhon Hoi primary school to underprivileged children in An Giang province

An Giang province, February 27, 2016 – Today, Fuji Xerox Vietnam Company Limited hands over “B” Nhon Hoi primary school in An Phu district, An Giang province to the local authority after three months of renovation. In this project, Fuji Xerox Vietnam collaborates with the NGO Loreto Vietnam – Australia and the locals in order to provide underprivileged children with better learning facilities and thus enable educational opportunities.

“B” Nhon Hoi Primary School is located in Nhon Hoi commune, An Phu district, An Giang province, a remote area that is affected by flooding throughout the year while most of the people live on aquaculture and fishing. There are currently 157 young children with difficult family circumstances studying at this school, 40% of them are of Cham descent. The children are very undernourished and have to travel long distances to go to school but they do not give up on studying. However, some of them must leave school to help their families that leads to an alarming dropout rate in this area.

Before the renovation, the school was deteriorated in most parts and could not guarantee the safety and ability to shield the students, especially in rainy and flooding seasons.

Releasing the strong urge to respond to this need, Fuji Xerox Vietnam has collaborated with Loreto to work on the school renovation plan. Starting in December 2015, after three months of construction, the renovation of the school has brought so much joy and excitement to the children, teachers as well as all the local people.

“The school looks like a newly built one. The kids are excited just like they are getting new clothes in the Lunar New Year! We are really glad!” said Mr. Nguyen Hoang Vu, Specialist at Education and Training Department of An Phu district.

Cao Thi Yen Nhi, a student of class 2D, “B” Nhon Hoi school has told us: “I love the new school, it looks so nice with new fans and new lights. I love going to school and hope that I can become a teacher to help children become good people and do good things!”

The new school generates student’s motivation to continue their learning journey and prepare themselves for a better future.

After various outdoor activities organized in the ceremony, the meaningful gifts from our partners and customers have fulfilled the joy of kids with daily used items (tooth brushes, soaps, etc.), food and drinks (soft drinks, cookies, milk, etc.) and learning tools (books, notebooks, pencils, etc.).

The hand-over ceremony also welcomes a number of media representatives joining and posting news about this good practice of supporting the community to the wide public. Fuji Xerox Vietnam really hopes that the news broadcasted will provide enough information for such a meaningful program to be multiplied within the enterprises community.

This activity is a part of the Corporate Social Responsibility program of Fuji Xerox Vietnam which began in 2006. In recent years, in addition to providing educational assistance to underpriviledged children, the CSR program also initiates many visits and activities to support orphans and children with disabilities, with the participation of employees across the country.
